In Sardinia, as in most ancient civilizations, stone, before becoming a tool was certainly an object of worship, as attested by the thousands of megalithic monuments scattered around the island. The expertise in its use as construction material is documented by at least 3000 years, in approximately 7,000 nuraghi in sacred wells and tombs of giants come down to us. Many buildings in Italy, Europe, America and Japan, are finished with Sardinian granite. This precious stone so called "white gold" for its quality.
